Chris set for Ascot returnHeadlines
Captain Chris

Captain Chris is on target to make his seasonal reappearance in the Amlin 1965 Chase at Ascot on November 24.

After a great novice season over fences which saw him win the Arkle and the Ryanair Novice Chase at Punchestown, the eight-year-old was winless last season.

Having finished an honourable third behind Kauto Star and Long Run in the King George he jumped alarmingly right in the Argento Chase and was pulled up early before he redeemed his reputation by staying on strongly for fourth in the Ryanair Chase for Philip Hobbs.

"He'll start off in the Amlin 1965 Chase at Ascot," said Hobbs on Racing UK.

"Someone mentioned he could have run in the Haldon, but that was never an option really.

"He's in very good form but I don't know what his target will be later in the season.

"I've entered both him and Menorah in the King George, and Wishfull Thinking, and it depends what happens between now and then as to which of them run."
