Gordon Elliott is confident Cause Of Causes can make his presence felt in the valuable Racing Post Hurdle at Cheltenham today.
The four-year-old was a narrow winner of a competitive little race at Fairyhouse earlier this month and lost out by a head in the Galway Hurdle in August.
The trainer said: "He has come out of his win at Fairyhouse very well and he is in good nick, so everything seems OK. It was his first run for a while and we thought he needed a gallop on grass somewhere, so it worked out perfectly. Davy (Condon) didn't knock him around."
Elliott went on: "He has run below form twice at Perth, but every other run of his has been great and he goes to Cheltenham with a good, solid, each-way chance."
Nicky Henderson had to rule out Darlan due to the ground but the Seven Barrows handler has a second string to his bow in new recruit Cash And Go, a Grade One winner over hurdles for Edward O'Grady last Christmas and since bought by Robin Geffen.
The trainer continued: "I like Cash And Go. He's an enthusiastic character and needs to settle down a bit. I thought about going chasing, but a bit more time over hurdles will do him good."
