Wincanton inspectHeadlines

Thursday's meeting at Wincanton is subject to an 8am precautionary inspection due to the threat of further rain.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson reports the track to be waterlogged at present but is confident those areas will improve during the day. He is more concerned about the forecast for further rain this evening.

He said: "We are heavy, waterlogged in places at the moment but it is forecast to dry up from 11am. Originally it was due to be dry overnight, but another band of rain is now forecast in the early hours and that's what we're worried about."

Johnson added: "We are forecast 12 or 14 hours of dry weather but we're just worried about about the three to four millimetres that we could get tonight."
