Southwell cancelledHeadlines
Southwell Racecourse

Wednesday's meeting at Southwell has been called off, although the card has been salvaged and transferred to Wolverhampton on the same day.

Southwell clerk of the course Roderick Duncan was forced to abandon Monday and Tuesday's meetings at the venue due to a waterlogged track. He reported conditions to be worse on Monday morning so Wednesday's card cannot be run at the Nottinghamshire course.

He said: "I would say it's worse here this morning, we have water through some of the buildings and on the track.

"We won't be racing here on Wednesday."

The British Horseracing Authority later confirmed the fixture will be transferred to Wolverhampton. The original races stand, with minor distance alterations, but new entries must be made by 1pm this afternoon, with a declaration time of 10am on Tuesday.

The BHA also revealed contingency plans for later in the week are being explored, due the wet weather that is affecting racing up and down the country.
