Coney captures Bartlett prizeHeadlines
Coneygree makes the best of his way home

Mark Bradstock's Coneygree demonstrated a bottomless depth of stamina to win the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The 11-10 favourite, a half-brother to Hennessy hero Carruthers, again set out from the front for Mattie Batchelor in an attempt to repeat a similar course victory last month.

It looked briefly as if Ruby Walsh and Aerial had gained an edge up Coneygree's inside, but he picked up again and came six lengths clear.

Bradstock said: "He's so tough, and Mattie said they weren't going fast enough for him, even on that ground.

"The horse will tell us what to do, we hadn't even planned to come here after the last run. I suppose there's the Challow at Newbury or back here in January, but we'll see."

Batchelor added: "Some good horses have looked legless on the ground the last two days and while he felt tired, he wasn't legless. I suppose that's a sign of his ability."
