Kempton to stage Peterborough ChaseHeadlines
Kempton action

Kempton has stepped in to save the Peterborough Chase which will now be run on December 27.

Having missed its original slot through abandonment at Huntingdon last week it was switched to Exeter on Thursday but that meeting has also been lost to the weather.

It will now be run as the William Hill Levy Board Peterborough Chase on the second day of Kempton's Winter Festival.

The BHA was forced to look for another new home for the Peterborough Chase after Exeter's meeting fell foul of the wet weather.

"It is still absolutely hammering down and we are due another 10mm before 11am," said Exeter's clerk of the course Barry Johnson.

"There's no point delaying it, we've got no chance of racing so we may as well call it off now. It's so frustrating, it was a good card, especially with the Peterborough Chase which may have only had five runners but it was an interesting race."
