Bridgwater hoping for McCoyHeadlines
The Giant Bolster

David Bridgwater could turn to Tony McCoy for The Giant Bolster in the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Runner-up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the seven-year-old made a satisfactory return to action when third to Silviniaco Conti in the Betfair Chase at Haydock last month.

He was ridden on Merseyside by Tom Scudamore, who has been on board for eight of the gelding's last nine starts but would be required to ride Grands Crus for David Pipe should he take his chance.

Bridgwater said: "He's Tom's ride, but if Grands Crus runs he has to ride that, end of story. It's all up in the air, but I've been talking to (agent) Dave Roberts over the possibility of AP McCoy being free."

Barry Geraghty has yet to make a decision on whether he will partner Finian's Rainbow or Riverside Theatre.

Finian's Rainbow won the Queen Mother Champion Chase at last season's Cheltenham Festival, but struggled in heavy ground on his reappearance at Ascot in November.

Riverside Theatre, who finished second to Long Run in the King George two seasons ago, landed the Ryanair Chase at the Festival in March but has not been seen since he was pulled up at Aintree in April.

The Irish jockey told At The Races: "It's a very difficult call - you don't want to be offending anyone, either.

"Both were good winners at the Festival and I think both would get the trip. It's a very difficult one and we'll let it run to the wire."
