Poet may try to build on his highly-promising jumps debut by stepping straight up to Grade One company at Sandown on Saturday.
Trainer Clive Cox, a former jump jockey but better known as a trainer on the Flat, could have a smart recruit for the winter game in the dual Group Three winner, who will be given an entry in the 32Red Hurdle, formerly known as the Tolworth Hurdle.
"It was a very pleasing debut at Newbury, the horse enjoyed it and he's come back fine," said Cox.
"It was a comparative easy day out for him. He thoroughly enjoyed it. He's a very high-class performer on the Flat and he has taken to hurdling and his being gelded really well too. That is always a bit of a worry with an older horse.
"He'll have an entry in the Tolworth. Obviously the wet conditions will suit him and Sandown is a track he's run very well on the Flat.
"That's where we will be having a look and that is the plan at the moment."
