Clondaw 'sore' after Newbury runHeadlines
Trainer Donald McCain

Donald McCain reports Clondaw Kaempfer to be "a little stiff and sore" after being pulled up in the Betfred Mobile Sports Challow Novices' Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday.

Jockey Jason Maguire eased the gelding and then brought him to a standstill after the horse stumbled at the third-last flight when about make his challenge.

Clondaw Kaempfer had been fancied to run a big race after winning his first two starts over hurdles and was sent off 2-1 second favourite behind market leader Taquin Du Seuil, who went on to land the Grade One contest.

"He wasn't too bad after the race but he is a little stiff and sore this morning," said McCain.

"It's not drastic but we'll have a proper look at him to make sure."
