Robbie Hennessy is considering the next plan of attack for Rubi Light after he made Sizing Europe pull out all the stops in the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown.
The seven-year-old was a big disappointment on his seasonal reappearance in the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase, beaten a long way into third, albeit by two potential stars in Flemenstar and Sir Des Champs.
Rubi Light was found to be suffering from a lung infection after the race and having rectified that problem, he showed he was right back to his best by filling the runner-up spot in Thursday's Grade One test.
"There's not a bother on him (after the race) and I was delighted with how he ran," said Hennessy.
"He had a lung infection and even though the vet said it had cleared up, you still worry about running him so soon afterwards, so it was great to see him gallop all the way to the line.
"He jumped absolutely fantastic. It was one the best rounds of jumping he's ever put in and he was out-jumping Sizing Europe going down the back, which takes some doing.
"We'll have a think about where we go next. We'll enter him for a Grade Two at Thurles on January 17 (Kinloch Brae Chase) and also the Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park.
"We'll probably enter him for both the Queen Mother (Champion Chase) and the Ryanair at Cheltenham and see what the ground is looking like nearer the time."
