Webber maps out Alasi gameplanHeadlines
Alasi

Alasi could either head to Doncaster for a Grade Two race she won last season or go straight to the Cheltenham Festival after her fine second behind Une Artiste at Sandown on Saturday.

It was the second time this season Paul Webber's mare had chased home Nicky Henderson's Fred Winter winner after the two filled the same places in a similar race at Wetherby in November.

The OLBG.com Doncaster Mares' Hurdle on January 26 is once again a possible for Alasi if the ground dries up, but Webber would not be afraid to send her straight to Cheltenham.

Alasi has finished fourth behind Quevega in the last two runnings of the OLBG Mares' Hurdle at the Festival.

"She's great, she's come out of it bouncing," said Banbury-based Webber.

"We know she's not as effective on heavy ground so when, or if, it eventually does dry up a little she'll be bang there.

"There's the two-mile Grade Two she won at Doncaster last year in three weeks, that is an option, but if she doesn't run there she'll go straight to Cheltenham.

"If it's going to be decent ground anywhere in three weeks it's likely to be at Doncaster."
