Our Island has the Betfred Eider Chase at Newcastle on February 23 as an aim after he ran a sound race in the Coral Welsh National.
Tim Vaughan's eight-year-old went one better than last season when finishing fifth in Saturday's marathon chase at Chepstow.
Vaughan said: "I was pleased with how he jumped and travelled, it was much better than last year. We'll look to drop him in grade now and maybe something like the Eider Chase later in the season might be for him. We'll have a look for a small confidence-booster over three miles or further for him somewhere first."
