Coronation keeps Saturday dateHeadlines
St Nicholas Abbey winning last year's Coronation Cup

Epsom will continue to stage the Investec Coronation Cup on a Saturday after the initial success of the move last year.

The Group One was run as the Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year and it was moved from its traditional Friday slot.

The race will revert to its original title this year but will stay on the second day of the meeting and will be worth £50,000 more, with £350,000 on offer.

Andrew Cooper, head of racing at Epsom, said: "We have decided to keep the Coronation Cup on Investec Derby Day as it proved such a success last year.

"The Investec Derby meeting proved to be a great way to begin the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and we hope that this year's meeting will continue to be a spectacular occasion for all."
