Last season's Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up The Giant Bolster will not run in the Argento Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday.
David Bridgwater's charge disappointed last time out in the King George VI Chase at Kempton but was supposedly due to head back to the scene of his career-best performance this weekend.
However, his owner Simon Hunt said the Betfair Denman Chase at Newbury in February, and a possible clash with Long Run, is now on the cards.
Hunt tweeted: "The Giant Bolster skips the Argento Saturday, will prep for the Denman at Newbury, want to have him spot on for another crack at the Gold Cup."
Former Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander is due to make his long-awaited return from injury for Nigel Twiston-Davies, while this year's ante-post favourite Bobs Worth also has the option.
Tidal Bay is entered for Paul Nicholls, with David Pipe having left in Grands Crus.
Hunt Ball, Wayward Prince, Weird Al and Cape Tribulation add further strength in depth.
Hey Big Spender, Cappa Bleu, Calgary Bay, Little Josh, Quartz De Thaix and Midnight Chase complete the list of 14 possible runners.
