Calgary baying for Sky Bet braceHeadlines
Calgary Bay

Calgary Bay could try to repeat last year's victory in the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on Saturday should the weather improve enough for the meeting to take place.

The 10-year-old, trained by Mick Channon, defied top weight in the staying handicap last January, but he also has two entries at Cheltenham the same day.

His options at Prestbury Park are the Argento Chase and the Murphy Group Handicap Chase.

"If racing is on, the race he would probably go for would be the Sky Bet at Doncaster, which he won last year," said regular jockey Dominic Elsworth.

"He's had two runs this season. The ground was desperate at Cheltenham for the Paddy Power and I pulled him up. He then ran at Aintree and sploshed through the ground there.

"Soft ground shouldn't be too much of a hindrance to him and he's a decent horse."

Cape Tribulation, who returned to his best with victory in the Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby on Boxing Day, will also line up on Town Moor if the meeting takes place.

"He's in grand form, and if Doncaster is on he'll definitely go there," said his trainer Malcolm Jefferson. "That race is perfect for him."
