Consistent chaser Vino Griego finally secured a deserved first victory over fences with a fine display in the Timeform Novices' Handicap Chase at Cheltenham.
Gary Moore's eight-year-old has been placed on eight occasions over the larger obstacles and was 25-1 to end a long barren spell in this wide-open contest.
The visored runner moved well throughout in the hands of Jamie Moore and cruised up on to the heels of Renard D'Irlande and Sew On Target rounding the home turn before sprinting clear and safely negotiating the last two fences to score by 19 lengths.
Renard D'Irlande filled the runner-up spot, with Battle Group making late headway when it was all over to grab third.
The winning jockey said: "I know a lot of people have called him names, and I have in the past, but he does enjoy racing and he's been up against 150-rated horses and finished second last time.
"I rode him a bit differently today and tried to take my time. Maybe that will give him some confidence and he can build on it."
