Jumps return in doubt at SouthwellHeadlines
Action from Southwell

Officials at Southwell are extremely pessimistic about prospects of a resumption to racing on Monday when they are due to stage a jumps card.

An inspection has been called for 2pm today as the turf track is currently waterlogged. However, the Flat card on the all-weather surface is expected to go ahead the following day.

"The turf course is waterlogged and we have significant rainfall forecast for Friday - about 20 millimetres and a further 10mm on Sunday," said clerk of the course Roderick Duncan.

"There's not a great deal of prospect of it being able to dry out. We are very pessimistic at the moment.

"We are still looking to racing on the all-weather on Tuesday. It's going the right way at the moment to resume all-weather racing.

"It is the combination of the rainfall and the snow that was on the turf track that has left it waterlogged."

Racing has not taken place at the Nottinghamshire venue since November 20 due to flooding which affected the facilities as well as the Fibresand surface.
