Our Father is set to be given another chance to prove his true ability at Newbury on Saturday.
Something of a Jekyll and Hyde character, the lengthy grey has always looked brilliant on his first start of the season, only to fail to back it up later on.
He started off this season in the same vein, winning by 20 lengths on his novice chase debut at Cheltenham in November, only to suffer a heavy odds-on defeat at the same course the following month.
Trained by David Pipe and owned by the Ives and Johnson families, Our Father is entered in the Better Prices On Betfair Mobile Novices' Chase , with the Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Novices' Chase at Exeter on Sunday as back-up.
David Johnson said: "As long as his blood is OK, he'll run. We'll see how he performs and hopefully learn if he can go on to Cheltenham.
"He seems to run best when fresh, but the last time at Cheltenham was not his running. I think he's a lot better than that.
"You never know what you are going to get with him, but we'll see what unfolds and I'd be very hopeful he'll run well."
