Nolan makes sense of Logic formHeadlines
Paul Nolan

Paul Nolan believes Defy Logic's future lies over fences after the six-year-old made an impressive winning debut over hurdles at Fairyhouse.

The County Wexford trainer was delighted with the way the JP McManus-owned gelding transferred his jumping at home to the track when making all the running to come 34 lengths clear in a two-mile maiden hurdle on Tuesday.

"We were pleased with him, especially with the way he jumped on that ground. You can do as much work at home with him in the loose school but you never know until they get out on the track. Everything's gone very well in his last two starts in a bumper and over hurdles," said Nolan.

Defy Logic earned quotes of around 16-1 for both the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle and the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at next month's Cheltenham Festival, but Nolan is happy to leave plans to the owner's racing manager Frank Berry.

"He's in the Neptune and the Albert Bartlett at the Festival, but we will see what Frank (Berry) has to say. He'll make the decisions," said Nolan.

"He's a big horse and a real chaser in the making."
