Naas and Down Royal offHeadlines
Naas action

The fixtures scheduled for Naas today and Down Royal on Tuesday have been called off as bad weather continues to affect racing.

Naas was cancelled following a 7.30am inspection due to a waterlogged track, any hopes of getting the fixture on being thwarted by persistent rain in County Kildare.

"Parts of the track are waterlogged. It's raining now and there's no chance of the meeting going ahead," said Irish Turf Club officer Cliff Noone.

The meeting was due to feature the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Novice Chase, an event for which Mikael D'Haguenet was likely to go off favourite.

The Turf Club later announced that the Down Royal fixture scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled because the course was found to be unfit for racing due to waterlogging when inspected today.

This meeting was originally due to take place last Wednesday, but was moved on.
