Champion Chase option for MailHeadlines
Paddy Brennan

Paddy Brennan would love to ride Tom George's exciting French recruit Mail De Bievre in the Queen Mother Champion Chase over two miles.

The eight-year-old made his debut over three miles for George in the Denman Chase and put in some extraordinary leaps before tiring close home.

Brennan feels greater use should now be made of his jumping prowess over shorter distances.

He told At The Races: "He's an unbelievable horse to ride. He has so much power and speed, so there was always a worry that the trip would catch him out.

"There's a couple of options for him, but obviously the Champion Chase is in the back of our minds at the minute. He'll need to be supplemented, but if he is he'll be one hell of a ride.

"The Ryanair is the other option, but I think he'll be better at two miles - he has an unbelievable cruising speed.

"He's obviously very, very talented and the Champion Chase with no Flemenstar or Cue Card is very tempting.

"Obviously there is the big black horse (Sprinter Sacre) in there that we need to get out of the way, but there's plenty of prize-money for second, third and fourth, so it could be an option."
