Martin Keighley feels Champion Court would have sound claims in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham if he can return to the kind of form he showed at the meeting last year.
Champion Court only found Sir Des Champs too good in the Jewson Novices' Chase 12 months ago and that rival is challenging for favouritism for the Gold Cup.
Keighley set his sights on the Ryanair after Champion Court failed to stay three miles in the King George at Christmas, but he needs to overcome a disappointing display at Kempton when beaten by Paul Webber's mare Alasi.
"If he came back to last season's Cheltenham form, he'd have a big chance," said Keighley.
"He just didn't stay in the King George so we've dropped him in trip. He's at his best when he can get rolling out in front, that's what he likes.
"His main rivals have other options elsewhere so it might cut up a bit yet."
Champion Court is around 10-1 for the Ryanair and he could be part of a select team for Keighley at the meeting.
"We could also be sending Johnny Og to the Champion Bumper and Any Currency is likely to run in the cross country race," he added.
